Trent Boult Expresses Desire To Play ODI World Cup In India After Having Opted Out Of Central Contract

New Zealand's left-arm fast bowling star Trent Boult has expressed his desire to play in the 2023 ODI World Cup slated to be played in India. His interest in playing the marquee event comes after he had opted out of a central contract offered by New Zealand cricket last year in order to be able to spend more time with his family and continue plying his trade in several T20 leagues around the world.
Boult continues to feature regularly in the franchise leagues and is currently playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2023. However, in a recent interview, the 33-year-old has said that he would want to be part of the ODI World Cup later this year.
 "I've still got that big desire to play for New Zealand. It is what it is: I've made my decision. I've been lucky enough to have a 13-year career in the Black Cap and hey, I've still got a big desire to play in the World Cup as well," Boult told ESPNCricinfo.
Boult did not yet rule out Kane Williamson's participation from the World Cup. The New Zealand skipper ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while fielding in the IPL 2023 season opener mber after the 2019 final, I said to Kane (Williamson) that we've got to be there again, come 2023 in India. It's a shame with what's going on with his knee but he'll be working as hard as he can to try and get there. It's such a great tournament one hundred percent, I've got that desire to be out there," he added.
Boult's last appearance in an ODI fixture came in September 2022 against Australia. His last T20I came in November 2022 which was the Kiwi's T20 World Cup semifinal.
